Hallo Hallo,

We returned to The Plym yesterday morning after an amazing week at Sawmills studio in Cornwall?

We completed recordings for the new album and they?re sounding great!

Sawmills is situated in it?s own creek just off the river Fowey and is only accessible by boat?

Loading all the gear onto the boat and setting off down the river instantly puts you in a great frame of mind. We were itching to start, so on the first night we demo?d the tracks to Tom (The Engineer).

Demoing the tracks enables you to pick the best arrangements and tempos for each song before you start the ?tracking? process (layering the instruments over each other seperately)

The next morning (while Aza was recording some drum takes), Ben and I set off in the canoe for a paddle about the creek. We saw loads of fish so went back to the house to find fishing rods and bait. Then we spent most of the afternoon not catching aything, but it was still good fun?

We all dangled our rods at some point (ahem), alas, we?re clearly not born fishermen. Ben even went digging for bait in the mud. Sadly not even a wriggly worm was enough to coax a fish onto our hooks, although i did catch a crab! (a tiny crab, but it?s still a crab!)

Anyways, we were all sad to leave, but the recordings sound great so all good!

Many thanks to Tom for doing such a grand job engineering and producing the tracks.

See you soon,

Albert

hallo guys and girls!

The alps trip was great and we?ve saved enough money to record a new album! hooray!

Sadly we didn?t make enough to get out to OZ (boo! i hear you cry!)

the album is gonna be recorded partly in Sawmills in Cornwall next week, partly a presspack studios in plymski and partly at neil halsteads studio in Cornwall.

In the meantime, don?t forget about the downloads available from our nimbit plugins on the website (www.albenaza.com), the facebook page and our myspace page. there?s both an acoustic ep and the i-scream(rocky) ep available!

hope you?re all good,

Big up,

Albert x

Hallo peeps!

After the enthusiastic responses from the previous blog here i am, one week later, back in The Underground having another beer!

This week has been a bit of a roller-coaster.

The weekend was quiet as our Sunday night gig was cancelled over noise-complaints. (We?ve heard rumours that the local Mairie wants all live music in Alpe d?Huez banned after 10pm?)

As we had an evening free we thought it?d be rude not to head out for a few beers?the nightclub beckoned and needless to say we all awoke in the van with pained expressions?

Talking of vannie? The Big Dog has treated us well so far, although a lack of ?facilities? means that every morning we go to the local sports centre for a game of tennis. Just tennis obviously, we definately don?t use the showers, toilets and washbasins.

Our first gig in the Alpe Due was at Smithys. Following a slap up feed (cheers guys), we powered on with a full party set. It was really busy and the guys from Natives were there as part of the Natives Show Love Tour.

The next day consisted of eating, drinking and setting up at Sharkeys. (all we seem to do is eat, drink and play. We?re like musical babies?) Despite the newly installed decibel-meter both sets went down really well. We sold some cd?s and some of the crowd have come back to other gigs.

Generally speaking, there is a lot of wreckage in the alps. However, nothing quite compares to that of the underground boys?funnily enough this was the next venue in our run of four gigs these past five days?

Despite our best efforts they ruined us.

Aza had to take himself home, Ben and I we?re incapable of coherent speech and all the gear was left ?in situe? till 5pm the next day. oops.

Lily?s beckoned next. A lovely chilled Irish bar run by our friend Steve. Supping through halves of Guinness and playing some of our more mellow tunes, it was the ideal antidote to the night before.

Today, after an early night, we spent the whole afternoon on the hill! Hooray! We all managed to get some gear and knacker ourselves up.

So, again, i bid you adieu. Happy birthday to my Bro Oli.

Big love, Berty

Herow!

So far we have been having a very special time?

We left Plymouth around Midnight on Monday 5th.

After a bloody cold night just off the M25 we started up the big dog and continued onward t?ward Dover?we indulged in a sandwich on the ferry, un cafe and on our arrival a la france we set off with gusto!

Then we realised we had no money.

oh, and then the accelerator pedal fell off, much to our amusement and that of the autoroute security people?

after some epic gaffer tapery we cracked on, our money problems solved by the wonders of aza?s credit card, which apparently is something called a ?VEEZA??

That night we stayed in a Formula 1, dirty dirty cheap cheap hotel. Here, Ben had a midnight boxing match with himself and Aza saw a ghost, or something, it might have been Ben in his Pyjamas but we?re not sure.

The next day we landed at Tignes in the Alps at around 3 o clock. Wee Man (the bar manager) got us started with a round of beers then we did or first apres-ski gig.

In the break between the apres and the evening gig we learnt a new song and got a little more tipsy. The evening set went off, with some crazy beat-boxing sheninagans and an impromptu version of ?Rappers Delight?.

We crashed in the Van and it snowed about 10cm overnight, we were snugeriffic tho, courtesy of our new fuel for vesuvius (the stove).

After some cold pizza for breakfast and a shower in the most pimptastic telly fantastic chalet this side of chernobyl (thanks Mandy), we headed to Val Thorens and met up with Matt (Cleggy to you Sir!). After some impromptu Jagerbombs we were ready for the apres set.

Apres the Apres (haha), we went for a massive feed over at a cool little pub called Tango?s. Pints of Long Island Iced Tea were consumed which directly contributed to the excellent performance at the evening gig?(there are some great pictures to come from that gig courtesy of a photographer called Tim?)

Next, Meribel beckoned. We met up with some good friends, played an open mic night and got told we were ?immensely talented? by The Feeling, which was nice?

Now here we are in Alpe D?Huez. Having a beer in the underground.

more info soon, big love.

Welcome to the first post on the AlBenAza Blog.

The first post consists of a wonderful picture of our faithful van ?The Big Dog?.

Be warned: she?s venturing out for a small uk tour in november then across Europe in January?

We would take her to Australia too if we could?
