NewsGator Unveils New Version of FeedDemon, the Premier Desktop RSS Aggregator for Windows

"The latest version of FeedDemon is incredibly fast and powerful and enables people to quickly and easily sort through massive amounts of information -- from podcasts and Web videos to blogs and news feeds," said Nick Bradbury, creator of FeedDemon and architect of client products at NewsGator. "With FeedDemon 2.5, we've added several new features that appeal to business users, news junkies and people just getting exposed to social media. It makes it easy to quickly read, manage and share content."

Building on the award-winning 2.0 and 2.1 releases in 2006, FeedDemon 2.5 now works with the NewsGator Online platform like never before. Individuals can synchronize and share their news bins by copying a post or drag-and-dropping a hyperlink from an external browser, essentially creating their own news feed that they can then share with friends or colleagues. The news bins synchronize with NewsGator's enterprise solutions, NewsGator Enterprise Server and NewsGator Enterprise On-Demand , so that users can now make enterprise Clippings using FeedDemon 2.5. Additionally, enhanced visibility allows users to see what the most popular topics are for both NewsGator as a whole and for their personal feeds. Now with a single click, users can find out the most popular topics of discussion on the Internet and can discover who in the blogosphere is linking to a specific post.

The reading experience itself is better than ever, as now people can download stories, links, and images to read on airplanes or in other instances when they can't get online. Embedded videos from popular video portals like YouTube now play easily and securely from within the newspaper view. Additionally, users can configure desktop alerts to notify them of new articles in only their most important feeds, while performance enhancements greatly increase the speed of feed delivery and add to the overall news reading experience.

"I could not live without FeedDemon -- it's the first application I recommend to anyone asking about which RSS reader to use, and there just isn't a comparable product out there that matches its power and ease of use. With it I can monitor hundreds of feeds on a daily basis, and it enables me to focus my attention on the data that I need. We fully rely on it to source stories and segments for The Global Geek Podcast, and without it I would not be able to cover the sites, blogs and other services that the show depends on," said Dave Gray, host of The Global Geek Podcast. "With the new functionality to create a news bin and generate feeds, FeedDemon has become a very valuable collaborative tool that has increased our productivity significantly. The hosts of the show can now share their news bins with one another, and we don't need any other service since we can easily browse, flag, view, save and share all within FeedDemon."

Pricing and Availability

FeedDemon 2.5 is available for $29.95 at www.newsgator.com .
